Taramasalata Greek Extravaganza pops up at 40 Alfred Place

Taramasalata poster40 Alfred Place serial pop-up fiend Tara Hofman of Tara’s Table brings her Greek Extravaganza to 40 Alfred Place next month.

Taramasalata will pop-up at 40 Alfred Place, Thursday the 6th and Friday the 7th of September dishing up Tara’s unique twist on a Greek menu for £15 per head. Call Tara on 07740 683149 to book a space.

This is the fourth pop-up restaurant this year from Tara Hofman, Bristol based chef who started Tara’s Table, a private chef and corporate caterer in 2010. Previous pop-ups at 40 Alfred Place have been Chic & Unique, the vintage styled pop-up, Tara Masala, a night of Curry Couture and ¡Tapástico! an evening of authentic Spanish tapas, all very well received.

Cafe Des Voyageurs – North African Spring

2nd night.

To book for the 15th or 16th call 07712 527113 or tweet @40alfredplace

The lucky first customers of the Cafe des Voyageurs savoured Cuban treats including perfectly made classic daiquiris, succulent ropa vieja, and  rare Pinilla and Santa Cruz rums unobtainable outside the Cuban provinces. The Cafe’s soundtrack included the best of the past and the absolute latest, typified by the New Year underground hit track Suave, donated personally by the young artist who recorded it in Santiago a month earlier, Icaro MC.

The next Cafe des V extends over two nights and takes North Africa as its theme. We’re very delighted and honoured to have Pat Floyd – son of you-know-how – in the kitchen, helped (or is it hindered?) by Hyacinthe.

Menu as follows:

Starters/tapas include briks with different fillings, Moroccan carrot salad, merguez in a quarter baguette, and more, all at £3.50 or £10 for 3. Perroquets and tomates cocktails from the bar, or Gerrouanne rouge from Meknes by the bottle or glass.

Mains: old style Franco-Algerian cous cous with copious veg and three meats, or vegetarian, at £10.

Dessert: patisseries orientales maison, including chocolate merguez (patent pending).

Jukebox almost filled with French chanson, Cuban classics from first Cafe des V, and top of the pops of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.

Still a few tables left. Also do drop in for drinks/snacks at bar but better check first as space limited.

Cafe Des Voyageurs – Noche Cubana

Flyer for pop up restaurant on the 9th of February

The Cafe des Voyageurs comes to Kingsdown.

Cafe Des Voyageurs will pop up on the first Thursday of every month. The Eateasy crew are teaming up with music, food and travel guru the Comandant Phil Sweeney to bring you a series of multi sensory fiestas.

It’s Alfred Place in Bristol, but it could be Marseille, Le Havre, even Dakar or Port au Prince…a glow of light on a rundown street, a steamy window, a glimpse of formica bar, the scent of Gitanes, the murmur of music and talk… The Cafe’s grizzled patron, a retired seadog known only as le Commandant, and his Martiniquan-Auvergnat cook Hyacinthe bring a changing menu of drinks and dishes culled from a lifetime’s picaresque travel, and a jukebox full of hot vinyl from the dockside pawnshops of the globe.

Algerian cous cous, Martiniquan boudin, a curry from Pondicherry… we’ll be launching the good ship CDV on the 9th of February with Noche Cubana – an evening of daiquiris, tamal en hoja, ropa vieja and 50 specially selected juke pod tracks on the jukepod.

Be sure to etch this date into the back of your hand.

thursday the 9th of february!

Call 07712 527 113 or tweet 40alfredplace to book.
