About SupperThyme:
==============
SupperThyme is the brainchild of Rich and Dan, two young foodies from Bristol looking to stamp their mark on the local pop up food scene. After the success of our launch night at 40 Alfred Place we return for a series of Pop Up dining events in 2013 both in Kingsdown and elsewhere…. You can keep up to date with future next Pop Up’s by following SupperThymeBristol on Facebook or @supperthymechef on Twitter. If you are having an event in Bristol or looking to hire a venue in Bristol and would like to enquire about a Private Pop Up, please contact Rich or Dan.

The perfect pop-up venue? We think so, glad others do too.

Thanks for this SupperThyme!
Thank You 40 Alfred Place – The Perfect Pop Up Venue in Bristol

In November 2012  SupperThyme Bristol launched our Pop-Up Restaurant using 40 Alfred Place.  After 2 years of discussion, deliberation and distractions it took the discovery of 40 Alfred Place to give us the perfect place to start.  We kept hearing about this lovely private hire venue from the many people who had visited this central venue for a Christmas Party, Pop Up Restaurant Night or Supper Club.

We checked the place out and it soon became apparent that this venue fitted the bill perfectly!  Comfortably seating just shy of 40 covers over two well presented floors, meant we could serve enough covers to ensure a viable and managable night of pop up dining.  Many other venues for hire in Bristol were only available for large private functions and corporate events or were by no means as accommodating to our needs.

The venue is clean and fresh with a modern yet rustic feel.  If you are in need of a venue to hire in Bristol as a  pop up restauranteur, private caterer or party thrower we would highly recommend 40 Alfred Place .  The venue is available to hire all day as standard, allowing use of the fantastic open kitchen space to prepare and set up the tables/decorations.  The kitchen is equipped with all the basics such as pots and pans, chopping boards and all the other essential preparation equipment. The tables are plain with all the necessary plates, bowls, platters and cutlery.  Luxuries such a glass washer, ice machine and lots of refrigeration for drinks and storage was great! Not to mention a proper 2 Group Espresso machine (which as a trained Barista I was able to utilise)!  A full itinerary was sent to us at time of hire to make it clear if we needed to get other bits in advance.  The only thing we needed to bring was wine glasses, although there are plenty of other glasses behind the bar.

The venue has an alcohol licence which was also handy for us.

SupperThyme is the brainchild of Rich and Dan, two young foodies from Bristol looking to stamp their mark on the local pop up food scene.  After the success of our launch night at 40 Alfred Place we hope to return for a series of Pop Up dining events in 2013 both in Kingsdown and elsewhere,  We already have our next night planned in 40 Alfred Place December to run a Private Pop Up for a local company’s Christmas party.  You can keep up to date with our next Pop Up’s by following SupperThymeBristol on Facebook or @supperthymechef on Twitter.  If you are having an event at 40 Alfred Place or looking to hire a venue in Bristol and would like to enquire about a Private Pop Up, please contact Rich or Dan via dine@supperthyme.co.uk

What to do, what to do?

The final third of 2012 is shaping up to be an interesting and varied one here at 40AP.

We’ve got some great pop-ups and events coming up including the 4th pop-up from Tara Hofman of Tara’s Table, she’ll be hosting ‘Taramasalata’ a Greek Extravaganza on the 6th and 7th September. Tara’s wildly successful previous pop-ups at 40 Alfred Place have been Chic & Unique, the vintage styled pop-up, Tara Masala, a night of Curry Couture and ¡Tapástico! an evening of authentic Spanish tapas.

It’s the first birthday celebration event of 40AP regulars Dine With I on the 5th of September, Carlton and Tim will be throwing (obviously in a perfectly crafted and meticulous fashion) another of their incredibly popular supper club pop-ups – Happy Birthday fellas’.

Come to think of it, that sort of makes it our 1st birthday too, so happy birthday us!

Coming soon are a regular series of evenings and weekends from Guerrilla Burger with some of their Slider perfection – more details on this soon, stay tuned!

Taramasalata Greek Extravaganza pops up at 40 Alfred Place

Taramasalata poster40 Alfred Place serial pop-up fiend Tara Hofman of Tara’s Table brings her Greek Extravaganza to 40 Alfred Place next month.

Taramasalata will pop-up at 40 Alfred Place, Thursday the 6th and Friday the 7th of September dishing up Tara’s unique twist on a Greek menu for £15 per head. Call Tara on 07740 683149 to book a space.

This is the fourth pop-up restaurant this year from Tara Hofman, Bristol based chef who started Tara’s Table, a private chef and corporate caterer in 2010. Previous pop-ups at 40 Alfred Place have been Chic & Unique, the vintage styled pop-up, Tara Masala, a night of Curry Couture and ¡Tapástico! an evening of authentic Spanish tapas, all very well received.

Cafe Des Voyageurs – North African Spring

2nd night.

To book for the 15th or 16th call 07712 527113 or tweet @40alfredplace

The lucky first customers of the Cafe des Voyageurs savoured Cuban treats including perfectly made classic daiquiris, succulent ropa vieja, and  rare Pinilla and Santa Cruz rums unobtainable outside the Cuban provinces. The Cafe’s soundtrack included the best of the past and the absolute latest, typified by the New Year underground hit track Suave, donated personally by the young artist who recorded it in Santiago a month earlier, Icaro MC.

The next Cafe des V extends over two nights and takes North Africa as its theme. We’re very delighted and honoured to have Pat Floyd – son of you-know-how – in the kitchen, helped (or is it hindered?) by Hyacinthe.

Menu as follows:

Starters/tapas include briks with different fillings, Moroccan carrot salad, merguez in a quarter baguette, and more, all at £3.50 or £10 for 3. Perroquets and tomates cocktails from the bar, or Gerrouanne rouge from Meknes by the bottle or glass.

Mains: old style Franco-Algerian cous cous with copious veg and three meats, or vegetarian, at £10.

Dessert: patisseries orientales maison, including chocolate merguez (patent pending).

Jukebox almost filled with French chanson, Cuban classics from first Cafe des V, and top of the pops of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.

Still a few tables left. Also do drop in for drinks/snacks at bar but better check first as space limited.

Cafe Des Voyageurs – Noche Cubana

Flyer for pop up restaurant on the 9th of February

The Cafe des Voyageurs comes to Kingsdown.

Cafe Des Voyageurs will pop up on the first Thursday of every month. The Eateasy crew are teaming up with music, food and travel guru the Comandant Phil Sweeney to bring you a series of multi sensory fiestas.

It’s Alfred Place in Bristol, but it could be Marseille, Le Havre, even Dakar or Port au Prince…a glow of light on a rundown street, a steamy window, a glimpse of formica bar, the scent of Gitanes, the murmur of music and talk… The Cafe’s grizzled patron, a retired seadog known only as le Commandant, and his Martiniquan-Auvergnat cook Hyacinthe bring a changing menu of drinks and dishes culled from a lifetime’s picaresque travel, and a jukebox full of hot vinyl from the dockside pawnshops of the globe.

Algerian cous cous, Martiniquan boudin, a curry from Pondicherry… we’ll be launching the good ship CDV on the 9th of February with Noche Cubana – an evening of daiquiris, tamal en hoja, ropa vieja and 50 specially selected juke pod tracks on the jukepod.

Be sure to etch this date into the back of your hand.

thursday the 9th of february!

Call 07712 527 113 or tweet 40alfredplace to book.
